Official Statement – Tropical Storm “Manuel”


Acapulco, Mexico (September 17, 2013) – The Secretary of Tourism in Guerrero, Mexico reports that commercial flights of Aeromexico and Interjet are operating out of the Acapulco Alvarez International Airport (ACA) only for passengers with a previously booked ticket but they will be transported from the Forum at Mundo Imperial directly to the plane as airport facilities remain inoperable as of this morning. Travelers are urged to contact their airline carrier directly for more information.

Additional flights will be temporarily operating from the Pie de la Cuesta Air Force Base as an alternative for travelers with priority given to people with urgent medical assistance requirement, women, children and elders at this time. In this case, tourists should contact to the General Manager of their hotels.


Furthermore, a tourism hotline has been set up for transfer information, hotel rooms and other assistance. Travelers can call 01-800-008-8700 directly for more information.


the President of Mexico, Enrique Pena Nieto and the Governor of Guerrero, Ángel Aguirre Rivero toured the region on Monday and requested that all hotels in the area extend complimentary rooms to all tourists unable to leave the destination due to flight cancellations, road closures, etc. Additional hotel nights corresponding to September 16th and 17th will be offered for guests still remaining in the destination, with all costs being covered by the Secretary of Tourism of Mexico and the Guerrero Government directly.
