Diving in Cozumel, the best reefs in the Caribbean
There is no other diving
destination in the Caribbean that can compete with Cozumel.
The crystal clear waters surrounding the island
offer spectacular coral formations and the sight of hundreds of colorful fishes. It is rightly considered among the top - five diving destinations in
the world. The reefs surrounding Cozumel’s shores are some of the largest and
oldest coral reefs in the world, and there are 40 different dive sites offering a variety of dive environments
including dramatic depths, inspiring underwater cliffs, intriguing caverns, and
idyllic shallow reefs.
The currents in these reefs are normally
moderate to strong, so Cozumel is
famous for its drift diving. Visibility is incredible year round
and water temperature varies
very little between the winter and
summer months. During winter the water temperature hovers around 77-82°F, and you can count with
average visibility of 40 feet.
During the summer months the temperatures
are warmest - up to around 85ºF, and visibility can be 100-plus feet.
