ACAMBAY

This town was founded by the otomi people and has cobblestone streets and red-tiled roof houses. The main attractions are: the Parroquia de San Miguel (Parish of Saint Michael); the Huapango Dam, ideal for carp or trout fishing; the archeological zone of Huamango, dates back to the year 800 AD, there are some remains of pyramidal bases, temples and other structures; other attractive features in the area is the Acambay Aculco Park with forest vegetation, it has streams, rocks, scenic viewpoints, and the “Balcón del Diablo” (Devil's Balcony), where you can admire the beautiful “Valle de los Espejos” (Mirror's Valley). The place is ideal for rock climbing, rappelling, hiking and mountain biking.
